Both are legitimate systems. The right one depends on the floor, not on which sounds newer.
Both systems bond to properly prepped concrete and both hold up to normal garage and shop use. The differences that actually matter are cure time, how they handle sunlight and temperature swings, and thickness and cost.
Polyaspartic cures fast enough that a floor can often be coated and back in use within a day, which matters if a garage or shop can't be out of commission for long. Epoxy generally needs more time between coats and before the floor can take traffic.
Polyaspartic generally handles direct sunlight and temperature swings better over time. Epoxy can amber — yellow or darken — with UV exposure, which is more of a concern for a floor that gets direct sun through a window or an open garage door than for one that stays shaded.
Epoxy is typically applied thicker and is generally the less expensive system, which is part of why it's the more common choice for a straightforward garage floor. Polyaspartic's faster cure and better UV performance come with a different cost profile.
A shop floor that needs to be back in service the same day and gets some daylight might lean toward polyaspartic. A garage that can be down for a couple of days and stays mostly out of direct sun might do just fine with epoxy. The floor and how it's used should decide this, not a general preference for one system.
Whichever system goes down, it fails the same way if the concrete underneath wasn't properly ground and prepped. The system choice is a real decision; it is not a substitute for prep.
